Jewellery Care

 Durability of Plating

Gold plating will endure depending on how often you wear the item, where it is worn on the body, if any perfume is worn in those areas, how active you are, and the personal PH of your skin. Rings are generally exposed to more wear and tear, so we plate all of these in gold vermeil to try and ensure they last as long as possible. If you follow the guidelines below for
wearing, cleaning and storing your jewellery, it will give the plating its longest possible lifespan.

How To Clean Your Jewellery

Jewellery with stones can be cleaned as described below:
1. Mix some washing up liquid into some lukewarm water.
2. Soak the jewellery in the water for up to ten minutes.
3. Use a soft toothbrush to clean around stones or use your fingers to rub.
4. Take the jewellery out, rinse it with water and leave it to dry naturally.

Cleaning Silver Jewellery

Over time, all silver jewellery can become worn down or discoloured due to reacting with moisture in the air, oils, perfumes, body lotions or sweat. If you see a light discolouring, you can use a silver polishing cloth and rub the area until it shines again. If your jewellery is showing heavy signs of oxidization, we recommend you use a specialist silver cleaning solution, dip the polishing cloth in this and rub on the areas affected. After cleaning, rinse the jewellery in water to remove any leftover solution and leave to dry.

Cleaning Gold Jewellery

Gold jewellery can also discolour, although this more rarely. If you see a light discolouration, use a gold polishing cloth and rub on the area until it’s gone. If the
tarnishing is heavier, we recommend you using a specialist gold cleaning solution, dipping in a gold polishing cloth and rubbing it on the affected area. Do not dip the jewellery
straight in the solution as it is too harsh. After cleaning, rinse the jewellery in water to remove any leftover solution and leave to dry.

How to Keep Jewellery Gleaming

Store items in their Capsule Eleven jewellery box or any other box that is sealed, when not being worn.
Never store your jewellery anywhere where there is moisture such as bathrooms or leaving it on a kitchen side as it will oxidize more rapidly.
Do not wear your jewellery when swimming, especially in pools where there is chlorine as this can cause rapid oxidization. Also avoid wearing your jewellery in the sea, in the shower, or during tough workouts where you may sweat as this also reduces the life of the plating.
Avoid spraying perfumes near the jewellery or getting it near any household cleaning products.
